A record of the renovation of a
Wooden Drascombe Longboat 'Otter'

6th December 2006. Back to work.

Pulled a muscle in my back so had to take it easy. (All I did was cough!)

Did a little light work scraping paint with a heat gun and scraper. Under the paint is some sort of putty-like primer. It is quite thick and leaves a rough finish on previously smooth wood. As I don't like the rough finish I am removing it all.

Also spent some time unscrewing hardware. On the deck are two round white things. I had assumed that they were vents.

But when I took them off each consisted of a threaded ring and a threaded cap. The only way you would get ventilation is if you removed the cap completely. So what are they. It says' Sowester' on the top.
