28th December 2006. Tapering the outer stem

I planed the outer stem down until I reached the inner stem.

The black area is glue between the two stems.

I tapered out a scarf for joining in the new outer stem.

You can see where coach screws were used to pull the stem down for gluing. The holes were then plugged with hardwood dowels.

At the stem the bilge strake (garboard) is tucked inside the next strake. I will have to remove this.
