A record of the renovation of a
Wooden Drascombe Longboat 'Otter'

9th January 2007. Made templates for strakes

Bought some cheap 3mm hardboard.

Started to cut out templates for the new strakes.

An eight foot one at the aft end.

An eight foot one at the forward end.

I chamfered the edge to tuck inside the existing strake.

I pulled it round and temporarily nailed it down.

Then I fitted a bridging panel. I had to spline the curve.

The finished result.

Couldn't hold the hardboard in place as it is floppy. The 9mm ply will be a lot stiffer and, hopefully, easier to work with.
