Wooden Drascombe Longboat 'Otter'

26th January 2007. Scarfed hog

I couldn't get a 4m length of Iroko to repair the hog so I scarfed two lengths together. Good practice for when I have to scarf it to the existing hog.

Started by planning the lengths to size.

Then I cut a 12" scarf.

And finally glued the two halves together with a single wood screw to stop any slipping.

And to keep the temperature up in a cold garage - a 60 watt bulb in a box.
