A record of the renovation of a
Wooden Drascombe Longboat 'Otter'
12th February 2007. Started fitting the second strakes.

Bonded
the the edges of the rear deck hatches.

|
The
idea is that I will saw along the gap (where the softwood spacers are)
and I will have hatches that will fit the curve of the deck.

|
Started
to fit the second strakes. To get the correct bevel I first measured the
required bevel at various points and recorded them on the ply. After removing
the strake I then planed the bevel.
The glue in the ply soon dulls my plane blade. I had to resharpen about
six times.

|
This
feels like real boat building.
On the starboard side one length of ply sufficed.
|
|
On
the starboard side two pieces were required as it was over 8'.
