A record of the renovation of a
Wooden Drascombe Longboat 'Otter'

4th March 2007. Strakes.

Fitted the port bow garboard strake.

Fitted floors at each end of cockpit. I was going to reuse the central one but it is warped. I will fit a new one when the bout is inverted.

Rot had just reached the edge of the third strake in three places.

I cut out the rot, locally and fitted replacement ply with a reinforcing piece.

Assembly will be difficult due to all the bevels. I may bond in the new ply then fit and bond the second strake and leave the reinforcement until last.

If I fit the reinforcement first then I will have to make the second strake fit both the third strake and the reinforcement.

We will see.
