A record of the renovation of a
Wooden Drascombe Longboat 'Otter'
21st March 2007. Dry Fitted Keelson and Stem
Cleaned up the transom. The curve of the garboard strake looks ok.
Planed
two lengths of iroko for the keelson and scarphed them together. Pretty
good join.
Also
planed the three 10mm thick pieces of iroko for the stem.
Planed
the edge of the garboard strakes to take the keelson.
Fitted
the keelson and the stem
Put
M10 bolts through keelson and hog to pull down the stem laminates. This
one needs tightening a bit.
I
used a strap to pull down the front before I could get the bolts in.
Had
to crawl right up into the fo'c's'le to tighten the nuts. I was reminded
that there are lots of 6mm holes to fill.
